Vergänglich

Vergänglich is a German term meaning a moment that lasts for a short period of time. This photo series consists of imagery that shows spontaneity and candid moments that are fleeting moments in time with my family. This body of work is seemingly natural observations, and documents the “everyday” experiences of my family, seen in photos such as my dad coming home from work, my mom holding mail, my sister getting ready to leave our home, and the mundane objects around us. The familiar and comforting feeling these images represent comes from my perspective as an “onlooker” as I document our daily lives. Photography allows me to capture passing moments. The times that some may miss if not paying attention and the moments that define our experiences and show how we live our daily lives. Vergänglich represents that our days won’t last long, and my compulsion to capture and preserve memories has a deep importance to me.
